North East entrepreneur launches Blyth seafood restaurant creating 12 jobs

The newly opened Blyth Boathouse eatery on Quay Road has created 12 new jobs and is set to provide a £300k boost to the local economy.

The restaurant reportedly hopes to become a staple of the burgeoning Northumberland food and drink scene.

The venue, opened by regional entrepreneur Martin Charlton, owner of The Old Boat House Amble, boasts a harbourside location and reported delicious dishes cooked up by top chefs.

Blyth Boathouse is the flagship business in the regeneration of Quay Road and surrounding areas by Port of Blyth and it’s partners.

A collaboration between Mr Charlton and Blyth Harbour Commission, The striking purpose built building will also house Blyth Boathouse Port Heritage Centre for tourists to find out more about the historic port and the Blyth Tall Ships project.

Martin Charlton said: “We’re really pleased to be opening our restaurant in Blyth.

“The location is incredible, we’d encourage people from Northumberland and beyond to come and visit, they won’t be disappointed.

“A restaurant like this, with seafood fresh from the harbour, is a great thing for Blyth and will provide a welcome boost to its economy.”
