Manchester City provide Premier League’s cheapest season ticket
Manchester City have been named as having the Premier League’s lowest priced season ticket, priced at £299, as identified by the BBC Sport’s Price of Football survey.
The BBC’s survey provides a yearly insight into the industry, comparing prices of 176 clubs in 11 divisions across British football.
In what may come as a surprise to many supporters, the current Premier League champions have season tickets cheaper than each of their Premier League rivals, including newly promoted QPR whose cheapest season ticket is £200 more expensive than City’s.
Manchester United’s lowest priced season ticket is £532 whilst their highest priced is £950, £90 more expensive than City’s which is priced at £860.
To put in perspective the magnitude of Manchester City’s cheap ticket prices one only has to look at Conference Premier side Halifax Town, whose fan pay more for their season tickets than some Manchester City fans do for theirs.
Focusing on the rivalry between Manchester’s biggest two clubs. United do actually have cheaper single matchday tickets than City, with their tickets priced at £36 as opposed to City’s £37.
The survey also worked to find the cheapest possible day out at a match by calculating the cumulative price of a single matchday ticket, programme, pie and a cup of tea.
Not much split the two sides as City’s overall matchday experience out was priced at £45.80 and United’s fared at £45.50.
Similarly, both teams sell their replica shirts officially for £55. Hull, on the other hand, are the cheapest shirt sellers in the league pricing their tops at £39.99.
A trip to St. James’ Park for a Barclays Premier League fixture potentially cost just £23.30 (including a £15 ticket), the cheapest the division has to offer.
City’s efforts for fan experiences have been recognised as they are the first club to be awarded both the VisitFootball Club of the Year and Warmest Welcome titles.
The VisitFootball Awards are part of a national scheme that is improving standards of fan experience at football stadia.
A panel of industry experts from the football and customer service industries decided the award winners.
The judges comments said: “What we look for in a VisitFootball assessment are people skills and outstanding levels of customer service.
“Put simply, Manchester City are the gold standard in providing fans with the best matchday experience.
