SweetTree celebrates becoming BILD Satellite Centre

Leading home care provider, SweetTree Home Care Services, is celebrating after receiving recognition from the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD) for its learning disabilities training programme.

SweetTree, based in central London, provides tailored support at home and in the community for individuals with learning disabilities and a range of care needs. After working closely with BILD to align its training programme to national qualifications, the care provider has become a BILD Satellite Centre. Team members who complete the in-house training programme can now receive a nationally recognised qualification.

“We’re thrilled to become a BILD Satellite Centre and it is fantastic recognition for the high quality of training we provide,” commented Barry Sweetbaum, SweetTree managing director.

“We’re very proud of our in-house training programmes and the culture of learning and professional development we have created. We believe that providing the best care begins with employing the best people and all of our team members undergo ongoing training to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities.”

BILD is at the forefront of promoting improvements in good professional practice. From workplace training and qualifications support to consultancy and conferences, BILD helps organisations to review their frameworks, including positive behaviour support, works to help make great lives.

As well as striving for best practice as set out by the BILD Code of Practice, SweetTree’s learning disabilities team supports people using the positive approaches set out by behaviour management training programme PROACT-SCIPr-UK. All support workers are trained to identify triggers and behavioural indicators early, so appropriate interventions can be used to prevent a crisis from occurring.

Dela Begum, learning disabilities service manager at SweetTree, added: “Supporting people to reach their full potential is a key aim of the learning disabilities service and we achieve this by helping clients build confidence, develop new skills and lead an active life. We’re delighted to have formed such a great relationship with BILD and continue to look at ways to enhance the care and support services we provide.”
