Business Booms for Taylor&Emmet Property Team

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is predicting a record year for its residential conveyancing team, following a 53% increase in volume of work since January.

The solicitors have surpassed their own expectations for growth, thanks to improvements in the property market and the firm’s expanding presence locally.

According to the latest Land Registry property transaction data, Taylor&Emmet is ranked 19th out of 4,291 conveyancing solicitors in England and Wales for purchases completed. This figure was bolstered by the busiest August the firm has seen in recent years.

John Outram, Taylor&Emmet’s head of residential conveyancing, said: “The number of cases we completed last month was double that handled in September 2011. Talk of an interest rate rise may cool the market down slightly, but similar scare stories surrounding the new mortgage rules had little impact and demand remains strong. Going forward, we expect new instructions to remain high for the rest of the year and aim to carry the momentum we have built up into 2015.”

The conveyancing team’s success has been reinforced by ambitious plans for growth across all areas of the firm. In January, a merger was agreed with Bakewell stalwarts, Cockertons, complementing Taylor&Emmet’s Dronfield office and extending its reach into Derbyshire.
