Reward hails Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards as £100,000 raised
The St. James’s Place Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2014, in association with Arrow Cars, has raised a record £100,000.
Having supported the event for the last three years, Reward was delighted to once again be a major sponsor, recognising some of the region’s most inspiring and brave young people, community groups and organisations.
Special guests at the event, which sees all proceeds donated to the St. James’s Place Foundation, were Jonathan Ansell, the renowned G4 tenor and X Factor contestant who entertained nominees and guests with his stunning voice.
BBC Breakfast journalist Steph McGovern compered the evening, whilst event ambassadors the Chuckle Brothers provided entertainment to the 600-plus guests who attended the awards ceremony held at New Dock Hall in Leeds.
Tom Flannery, partner at Leeds-based asset lender Reward presented two awards on the evening.
Mr Flannery described the bravery of the young people at the event as “outstanding”.
“As a business, we are always looking to put something back into the communities we operate in and we couldn’t think of a better way to do that than by sponsoring this year’s event,” he said.
“There are many truly inspirational young people out there and these awards are a great way to recognise these amazing people who often achieve fantastic things in the face of adversity.
“The sum raised on the evening was twice that raised last year – a fantastic achievement.”
