Work experience proves vital for graduate success
A local IT consultancy are helping to improve the prospects of the region’s graduates thanks to its work experience and internship programmes.
Wolf Group recently provided Marketing Graduate, Emily Smith with a work experience placement that helped to give her one foot on the ladder towards her new role as Marketing assistant at global manufacturer, Elfab Ltd based in North Shields.
Marc Fowler, managing director at Wolf Group, said: “There’s simply no substitute for practical experience. Many recruiters won’t consider candidates that can’t demonstrate they’ve spent time in a work environment due to the risk and extra expense training them will cost.
“Having Emily with us over the last two months has provided our marketing team with some valuable assistance during the launch period of our new website. For Emily the ‘hands on’ experience gained will be useful to apply to her next role as Marketing assistant.”
Emily, who graduated this year from Leeds Metropolitan University, added: “The job market for graduates has become more competitive than ever. I found that my experience at Wolf Group gave me a greater understanding of marketing, which has improved my confidence and helped me to secure a permanent role.”
During her introduction to the company, Emily will undergo full training allowing her to become a technical expert in the company’s pressure management products.
Wolf Group also aim to tackle the region’s IT skills shortage by providing training and apprenticeship opportunities to both the unemployed and those seeking career development through the Wolf Academy - the first IT training initiative of its kind in the North East.
Established in 1998, Wolf Group provide bespoke software and consultancy services to SMEs and Corporates across the UK
