Aldi store to open in Whitley Bay creating 30 new jobs

A new Aldi store is set to open in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, which will create 30 full time jobs, after North Tyneside Council granted planning permission this week.

Members of the public had raised concern about the increase in traffic around the Foxhunters Road area although it seems the benefits for the local economy outweigh the worries.

Contracts will also be awarded to local builders as work will commence on erecting a multimillion pound building.

The discount supermarket recently announced record financial results with UK sales reportedly rising from £3.9 billion to £5.3 billion in 2013.

This was reportedly down to increasing market share through winning new middle class customers, as mid market supermarkets such as Morrisons and Tesco struggle.

The new Whitley Bay development is due to be completed in 2015.
