Stagecoach Sunderland Bus Apprentice Recognised At National Awards Ceremony
An employee from local bus operator Stagecoach North East’s Sunderland depot has been recognised as a top UK Bus apprentice at the company’s 10th annual Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Chris Stobbs, 24 from Sunderland was awarded third place in the year two awards for his outstanding performance at a ceremony at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium in Manchester. He received a cash prize, trophy and tools supplied by event sponsors ADL, Optare, the Society of Operations Engineers, Roadcrew and QA Supplies.
Chris Stobbs was pleased with his award. He said: “To be recognised across the whole apprenticeship programme and apprentices from around the country is fantastic. I am now two years into the scheme and Stagecoach North East has provided top quality training, giving me a great opportunity to increase my skills, I am very much looking forward to developing a career in engineering.”
Gary Chisholm, Engineering Director for Stagecoach North East, said: “Chris has excelled himself and worked exceptionally hard over the past 12 months and so thoroughly deserves his award. The Stagecoach apprentice scheme is widely recognised as one of the most comprehensive in the bus industry and it is vital to the future success of our business. We are delighted to have such skilled people within our ranks, which is great news, not only for Stagecoach, but also for the millions of passengers who travel on our buses day in, day out.”
Stagecoach currently employs 168 apprentices across its UK Bus operations.
