Thorpe Park submits planning application for mystery ‘2016 attraction’
Thorpe Park, in Cherstley, Surrey, has submitted a planning application for the addition of a new building.
The application proposes plans for a new building adjacent to the No Way Out and Nemisis Inferno rides and the Amity Boardwalk building.
Thorpe Park’s parent company Merlin Attractions Operations wants to demolish an arena space, along with a seating structure, basketball unit and a games building.
If approved, the new building would span an area of 2,620 square metres, stand 10 metres in height and feature two parapet walls.
The application states that the mystery indoor attraction would have a “warehouse-themed appearance” with “rusted and boarded up” windows and doors in a rustic style.
Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners, acting for Thorpe Park, stated: “The proposed ‘attraction’ will be the new feature for the 2016 season and clearly demonstrates Thorpe Park’s commitment to investing to continue to attract visitors and improve visitor experience.”
