Sheffield United sponsors threatening to quit the club over Ched Evans case

Sheffield United sponsors are threatening to terminate their partnerships if the club resigns former player and convicted rapist Ched Evans.

Official shirt sponsor John Holland Sales and back-of-shirt sponsor DBL Logistics have both issued statements condemning Evans who is now training with his former club.

A petition against Evans’ return has gained tens of thousands of signatures whilst three patrons of the club have resigned.

DBL released a statement saying: “DBL Logistics would end its back-of-shirt sponsorship with Sheffield United if the club employed a convicted rapist.

“However, whilst the current situation remains and Ched Evans is not contracted to Sheffield United, DBL Logistics will continue its business to business relationship with the club.”

Evans has made 113 appearances for Sheffield United, scoring a total of 48 goals. Current manager Nigel Clough has said it remains to be seen as to whether Evans will be reappointed, with a deal being ‘a long way’ off.
