Wensleydale Creamery to invest £350k in new equipment to supply Asda and Waitrose
Wensleydale Creamery has invested £350k in new equipment to expand its range into the growing £90 million ‘blended cheese’ market.
The investment will enable the makers of Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese to introduce a new range of blended cheese taster packs to match consumer demand for convenience.
The blended cheese taster packs are available in major multiples including Asda, Tesco and Waitrose.
The new range includes top seller in the blended cheese category, Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, with two other favourites; Yorkshire Wensleydale with Apricots & Peach and Cheddar with Caramelised Onions.
David Hartley, managing director at the Wensleydale Creamery, said: “Consumers are increasingly demanding convenience and requesting smaller, more accessible pack sizes, driven by the growth in smaller household size and expansion of smaller retailer outlets.
“This investment will ensure we maintain our growth as a business whilst perfectly placing ourselves within the expanding £90 million blended cheese market.”
