Entrepreneur opens Spanish tapas restaurant La Rambla in Leeds city centre

Entrepreneur Mark Burridge is set to open tapas restaurant La Rambla and coffee bar The Office at 9 East Parade in March 2015.

The two venues are the first leisure property ventures Mark Burridge undertakes as the only investor, after his successful experience as designer, builder and manager of sites in Manchester and in the South of England.

Tapas restaurant La Rambla, which is named after Barcelona’s main avenue, will occupy the first floor of 9 East Parade and will aim to be the most genuine Spanish venue in town.

The lower floor will host The Office, a coffee room and exclusive Cornish pastry shop during the day, and a cocktail and wine bar at night, open till 2 am in the weekends.

Mark Burridge said: “Authenticity is key to us. From the chef, to the staff; from the design, featuring hand-made tables, to the ambience enriched by oil lamps: everything is thought and chosen to bring the true spirit of Spain to Leeds.

For example, our house wine, imported from the best wine yards, will be served in the traditional and choreographic bota, a leather wineskin whose use dates back to the first centuries of civilization in Spain and which can hold up to 10 litres of wine.“

The leasehold premises were secured through the Leeds office of leisure property specialist Fleurets.

Andrew Spencer of Fleurets Leeds comments: “This is a substantial unit in a great location that can cater for both the daytime market generated by the abundance of offices and also the late evening trade.

“The venues constitute a great opportunity to capitalise on the now expanding Leeds market.”
