Learn more about the secrets of the sand
Northumberland Wildlife Trust is inviting members of the public to join in a very special public lecture and book launch in The Clore Suite at the Great North Museum: Hancock on Wednesday 3 December, between 6.00pm - 8.00pm
The book, ‘Rescued from the Sea. An Archaeologist’s Tale’ by archaeologist Dr Clive Waddington, charts the story of the Heritage Lottery funded ‘Rescued from the Sea’ excavation project at Low Hauxley, situated at the north end of Druridge Bay during the summer of 2013.
The 13 week project, led by Northumberland Wildlife Trust and managed by Archaeological Research Services Ltd, was a race against time to meticulously uncover, record and preserve the extremely rare and nationally important archaeological finds that were hidden within the cliff face before they were washed into the sea and the resulting book documents the story of the project from the local volunteer archaeologist who first noticed the remains in the exposed cliff face to the analysis of many of the finds resulting from the dig.
So, whether you are an amateur archaeologist or just fancy something different to an evening in front of the TV, come along to the free event, discover more about the secrets of the sand and, if you purchase a book on the night for £10, the author will sign it for you.
The event is free but places are limited, so please book your place via the booking form on Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s website www.nwt.org.uk or call: 0191 2846884.
