Salford gains new £12 million carpark
Salford’s New Bailey is opening a 615 space, nine storey car park in early December.
It is run by the English Cities Fund (ECf) and National Car Parks (NCP).
The £12 million car park, which was designed by architect RHWL and constructed by Morgan Sindall has been forward funded by Legal and General and let to NCP on a 35 year lease.
The new carpark includes automatic number plate recognition and an online booking service for a pre booking facility.
The car park is also conveniently located adjacent to Salford Central train station.
The completion of the car park is another key milestone in the timeline for New Bailey, which also includes One New Bailey, a 125,000 sq ft office development which is currently on site and a 143-bed Premier Inn, which completed on September 29th and is now open and trading.
Managing director at NCP, Duncan Bowins said, “NCP is delighted to be a part of the New Bailey scheme, launching this fantastic car park today with cutting edge features that our customers tell us they really value to help make their journey as seamless and efficient as possible.
“The car park has been designed to sit well within the surroundings of the new scheme and we think it is going to be a real asset.
“We hope all residents, customers and local businesses are as proud of our car park as we are.
“We look forward to welcoming them on their first visit as well as the many business users that will come to occupy this fantastic development in the near future”.
Development director at ECf, Phil Mayall said, “The car park is the second element of the New Bailey development to complete on time and on budget.
“It is a really important aspect of the wider scheme, supporting the new commercial business district, which will significantly increase footfall in the area as more and more businesses see the benefits of locating to New Bailey.”
