Hill Cross Furniture proud to support Herriot Hospice Homecare

Hill Cross Furniture, the contract furniture experts based in North Yorkshire, have chosen Herriot Hospice Homecare as there company charity. Staff at Hill Cross have already started to raise funds for Herriot, a local charity which helps patients and carers affected by life-limiting illnesses in the Hambleton and Richmondshire area of North Yorkshire.

Owner and Managing Director of Hill Cross, Richard Barker chose the charity due to their reputation and impact on the local community; “Herriot is a fantastic local charity; we aim to raise as much money as possible with fundraising events and donations of furniture to sell at their store. We create bespoke furniture for commercial hospitality and healthcare clients across Europe and often we are left with dozens of samples of contract grade chairs and sofas, which go unused - it’s great that these can raise funds for such a good cause.“

The charity was established in 1992 and covers 1000sq miles of the rural communities in North Yorkshire, a multi-disciplinary team deliver hospice care in the patient’s home. The charity works in partnership with local hospitals, doctors, nurses and social services and is a part of the Community Palliative Care services.

As well as donating furniture to sell at their furniture store based in the Omega Business Village, Northallerton , Staff at Hill Cross have planned a number of fundraising activities over the next few months to raise money for the charity. The first fundraiser was a bake sale on the 20th November, where Hill Cross’s budding bakers provided their bakes to sell to raise funds for the charity a fantastic £140 was raised. The next event will be a Christmas themed on the 23rd of December and will involve a dress up and raffle day, where staff are invited to dress up as their favourite Christmas character or in a christima themed outfit. Hill Cross also has a 5-a-side team, who play every Monday night, now every win comes with it a £50 donation from Hill Cross to Herriot.

The initial aim is to raise £3000 for the charity in the next year, which will go a long way to help the charity operate. £100 can help provide two visits by two members of staff to an end of life care patient and a £140 donation can give a carer a decent night’s sleep by paying for an overnight stay/care by a member of the Herriot Hospice team.
