North east manufacturer celebrates 21 years in business.
Prudhoe based plastic injection moulding company Tyne Valley Plastics celebrates its 21st year of business this year with a female MD at the helm.
Tyne Valley Plastics make customer specific plastic components which are supplied to companies across the UK and worldwide.
The companies Managing Director Gill Rice has spent much of the last 21 years juggling the running of the business with the raising of her family.
Gill, who studied at The London School of Polymer Technology, thirty years experience in the plastics industry after beginning her career on the shop floor setting machines for production.
When Tyne Valley Plastics started out, the company operated from one industrial unit in Low Prudhoe. Today, the company has expanded into four units with plans to be in their own premises within the next five years.
UK manufacturing suffered heavily during the 2008 recession with the government reporting that manufacturing output fell by 14.5% between Q1 2008 and Q3 2009. Reports for Q4 2014 however show a growth rate of 3.4% compared to a year earlier. The fact that a local manufacturing company survived the economic downturn and continues to thrive is great news for the region.
Tyne Valley Plastics are currently on target for a 20% plus growth in sales this year.
