Sales soar at Woking manufacturing firm Harvey Water Softeners after delivering 150,000th unit
British manufacturing firm Harvey Water Softeners has completed delivery of its 150,000th water softening unit since its engineering processes were brought in-house in 2001.
The milestone was reached last month when the landmark softener rolled off the production line at the company’s headquarters in Woking, Surrey.
Each unit has been developed and built on site using cutting-edge, homegrown technology and UK suppliers.
The family-run firm, which first began trading in 1978, is now Europe’s largest complete manufacturer of water softeners and the UK’s market leader.
The company recently reported sales of £16.9 million - up 20 per cent on the year before.
Harvey Bowden, founder and chairman of Harvey Water Softeners, said: “Delivering our 150,000th softener since reshoring in 2001 is a proud moment for me and everyone associated with the company.
“As the company’s founder, I’ve dedicated 35 years of my life to improving water quality for our customers after realising that other products on the market simply weren’t up to the job.
“This achievement has been made possible by the hard work of hundreds of people involved in our production and supply chain over the years. These people - teams of highly skilled, locally trained engineers - are the driving force behind our success, and the UK’s thriving recovery.
“That’s why we’re investing £2.5million in research and development over the next two years and expanding our capacity to keep the process in house and in the UK for years to come.”
Martin Hurworth, technical director for Harvey Water Softeners, said: “Our technology is unique within the industry and has been proven by numerous independent tests to deliver the best results, both in terms of water quality and cost savings. The company’s partnership with Thames Water as its chosen water softener affinity partner since 2012 further supports this.
“We believe our customer service is unrivalled too. Our experts offer personal demonstrations for every enquiry, hassle-free installation and then first-class after sales care for the life of the softener
“Once our customers have experienced the benefits that soft water brings - the increased lifespans of their household appliances, the cost savings on cleaning and bathroom products and even reports of improvements to chronic skin conditions - they wonder why they didn’t get a softener sooner.”
