PixelTree Media picks up award for suave design skills
A Warrington-based web and branding agency has been crowned the winner in the Design in Retail Branding category at this year’s Northern Design Awards for its work with Chester’s male grooming salon Suave.
PixelTree Media – based in Lowton – received the award at a packed champagne reception and gala dinner held at the Devonshire Dome in Buxton, Cheshire, on the 21st November in front of 350 guests.
The ceremony saw the North’s leading designers, retailers and architects gathered together to celebrate the best of what the region’s design scene has to offer with celebrities and well-known faces, including TV’s George Clarke and Linda Barker, as well as George Bond, Nick Munro, Jan Constantine and Wayne Hemmingway, involved in both the judging process and presenting prizes to winners on the night.
Speaking after the event, James Hamilton, 23, owner of PixelTree Media, said: “We never expected to win the award as being nominated was enough of an achievement for us. But to actually win is absolutely fantastic, especially as we were up against some much-bigger agencies who have won before.
“The night was brilliant with so many of the North’s foremost and respected design professionals under one roof and we really enjoyed the occasion. We’ve not won any awards before and hopefully this is just the start of things to come.”
James started PixelTree in 2009 after he had been freelancing while still at university. The business has now developed into a full-service agency with clients across the North West and the UK. James and his team designed a new logo that looks like a pair of scissors and shirt collar, along with a website for Suave, which the Northern Design Awards panel felt completely reflected the business’s mix of younger clients and older professionals.
