Doncaster Sheffield Airport expects 21,000 passengers during the Christmas period

Doncaster Sheffield Aiport is gearing up for the Christmas and New Year ‘getaway’ with around 21,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal building over the holiday period (20 Dec – 3 Jan).

The traditional Christmas getaway will start mid December with the majority of schools finishing for the holidays and passengers heading off on flights from Doncaster to seek winter sun, visit relatives, go skiing or look for Christmas and New Year festivities across Europe.

With 18 destinations on offer from the Airport over December, popular destinations for passengers departing from the Airport this Christmas and New Year are expected to be a mix of Winter Sun Mediterranean, Canary resorts and city breaks to Riga, Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Vilnius.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “We are looking forward to welcoming over 20,000 passengers this Christmas period.

“The choice of affordable flights to a number of destinations from Doncaster Sheffield Airport means that we expect the Christmas and New Year period to once again be a very busy one for us.

“To keep queuing times to a minimum we’re asking passengers to come prepared and to think about what they are carrying in their hand luggage.

“We want all our passengers to enjoy the start of their journey particularly at this time of year and with a bit of forward planning we hope passengers will get their Christmas holidays off to a great start.”
