Wakefield retailer Bonmarché doubles pretax profit as revenue increases 11.8%

Wakefield retailer Bonmarché is apparently having a renaissance as they report their interim results.

Profit before tax nearly doubled to £6.3 million from £3.7 million for the 26 week period to September 27.

Revenue increased to £91 million from £81 million in the same period last year.

The firm also refitted 11 stores and have planned around approximately 40 further re-fits. They have also increased their store portfolio, opening 4 new stores and 9 “other” locations.

Beth Butterwick, chief executive officer of Bonmarché, said: “We are pleased with Bonmarché’s first half performance and our progress against our strategic objectives.

“Towards the end of Q2, trading conditions became more difficult due to the unseasonably warm weather.

“These conditions have continued into the second half; however, on the basis that the weather returns to its normal seasonal pattern, the Board expects the current year’s performance to be in line with its original expectations.”
