£100k move to Escrick marks expansion for York family car business

York car sales and service company DG Dale has acquired new premises at Escrick Business Park on the A19 as it embarks on its latest growth drive.

The family-owned firm invested £100k in a fit-out programme, and the company will start trading from its new headquarters in January 2015.

The family business, which was founded by Derek and Mary Dale and has been trading in the area since 1959, has seen a 20% growth in both its sales and servicing operations in 2014.

With the financial support of parents Ian and Tricia Dale, Nick and his brother James have acquired the freehold of the two 2500 sq ft units which they are converting into an indoor 20 car showroom and fully equipped service workshops.

DG Dale director Nick Dale said: “Our business has progressed from selling mainly Vauxhall cars to offering a wide range or low-mileage marques.

“We are currently selling well over 300 units a year. We have literally thousands of service customers and we needed the move to the kind of space which reflects the high standards on which our business has grown over 55 years.

“Escrick Business Park is ideal, modern, stylish space which we can shape to our own needs. It has great road access too. The fact that we are buying our premises reflects the fact that we want to be in control of our business and that we are here to stay.”

S Harrison’s Phil Hill said: “As a family business ourselves with a history dating back to the 1950s, we’re delighted to welcome DG Dale to Escrick Business Park.

“They will add an extra vibrancy to the thriving business community we have here in both our office and warehousing units.”

Emma Warner, commercial property partner at Langley Solicitors in York acted for S Harrison. DG Dale were advised by Kelly Buckle Fleming of Coles Solicitors and Penny Eadle of Ware and Kay.

Agents for Escrick Business Park are MPC. Roger Atkins at Lawrence Hannah and Ian and James Reynolds at Stephensons acted as agents for DG Dale.
