Lancashire Cricket bidding for World Cup and Ashes
Lancashire are hoping to bring the World Cup and the Ashes to Manchester in 2019
The final ruling is made by the ECB’s Major Match Group.
The decision will be made via reviewing the infrastructure, operations and community commitment.
Working in their favour is the fact that Lancashire recently won the ECB’s Facilities Award.
Lancashire chief executive Daniel Gidney said: “We are working assiduously on the Major Match bidding process for 2017 to 2019.
“You will be aware of how important it is for Lancashire County Cricket Club that Emirates Old Trafford plays host to the top international fixtures.
“I would like to reassure you that we are all determined to secure the matches that our outstanding venue and the cricket-loving people of the north west of England deserve,” according to Manchester Evening News.
