SCX engineer wins prestigious Lifting Industry award
Matthew Targar, service engineer at Street CraneXpress, part of the SCX Group, has been awarded the annual ‘Cyril McCaully Memorial Prize’ by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).
Matthew, who has been with Street CraneXpress for five years, was awarded the Memorial Prize for submitting the best paper on Lifting Machine Powers for the 2013/14 academic year.
The service engineer, 39, from Kent, achieved a distinction for the international Lifting Machines (Power) Diploma and was formally presented with the plaque at the Association’s Annual Meeting on Friday 28 November at The Crystal in London.
Matthew was delighted with his award and said: “Not only has the course broadened my knowledge of the lifting equipment industry, it also shows the SCX Group’s commitment to staff training and adherence to engineering procedures. “
Ray Fletcher, Director of Street CraneXpress, said: “We are all very proud of Matt’s remarkable achievement; it’s encouraging to see so many engineers participating with LEEA courses and the results we achieve are at the highest level.”
Street CraneXpress – one of the leading crane suppliers for heavy engineering firms in the UK – sets high standards of service and encourages all engineering staff to take LEEA diplomas in order to further their training and professional development.
LEEA is internationally recognised as the leading representative body for the lifting equipment industry and has been for more than 70 years. LEEA diplomas are regarded as the highest standard of qualifications available for engineers within every aspect of the sector including design, service, testing, examination and certification.
“It is essential that our employees gain further qualifications over the course of their careers and the various LEEA modules available to us ensure that our engineers are some of the most skilled in the industry,” said Fletcher.
The SCX Group is one of the UK’s leading specialist engineering providers of lifting solutions and moving structures. It has three separate divisions – Street Crane Xpress, Burnand XH and SCX Special Projects – which all offer specialist services within the heavy lifting field.
