Day seven: FedEx festive top tips for small businesses

Christmas is coming and at FedEx we want to help your business be fully prepared this festive season. As a result, please find today’s top tip below:

#7 Cushioning is key

The safe and on time delivery of products is crucial, however there is no point in them arriving on-time, if the content is not how the customer expected. The shape of your product is key to prudent packaging. As well as choosing the correct external box, think about the use of proper packing materials or firmly crumpled paper to fill hollow items. Protect your product during shipment and “square off” any odd angles. Inside the package, use at least one inch of cushioning around the item – top, bottom and all four sides. Cushioning is key but you should also consider doubling up for fragile items. Perhaps using two boxes to make sure that your package survives the journey unharmed.
