ENER-G director appointed as national green energy leader

Chris Marsland, Technical Director of Salford-based ENER-G Combined Power, is to play a lead role in driving energy saving and carbon reduction across the UK.

He has been appointed to the board of the Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA) board - working alongside other energy specialists from industry, the public sector and politics to champion the green agenda.

Chris, who is a chartered engineer and member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), is responsible for the engineering content of all ENER-G’s global combined heat and power projects - playing a lead role in innovation. He is Chairman of the Technical Committee for the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Power Generating Systems, and is also part of major research consortia - examining the use of CHP in improving energy resilience. As part of his new role, he will chair the CHPA Small Buildings Forum.

The CHPA is the leading voice behind an integrated approach to delivering energy services -using combined heat and power (CHP) and district heating and cooling. Board members have a key role representing the interests of the association; influencing energy policy.

Commenting on this new role, Chris said: “As customers seek to decarbonise heat and power supplies and gain greater energy security, while district heating networks gather pace, there are some major opportunities for the UK green-energy industry. It is an exciting time to take up this role and I am proud to contribute to the CHPA’s vital work in shaping energy policy and championing the sector.”
