The IF agency pushes need for more government investment in Superfast Broadband

Last week, Brian Rees and Christian James from The IF agency - the Manchester based creative agency – were invited by BT to attend its latest Parliament Showcase. The event, which was entitled Fibre Broadband: Making Your Local Business Global, took place at The Terrace Pavilion in the House of Commons. It was hosted by Graham Sutherland, chief executive of BT Business, and members of the BT senior team.

The showcase was an opportunity for parliamentarians to meet with small and medium businesses from around the country and for them to talk to them about how Fibre Broadband has transformed the way they work and the positive impact that upgrading to Fibre has had.

Brian Rees said: _“_It was a real honour to attend the showcase. During the day, we were introduced to several members of Parliament - including cabinet ministers - so we were able to share our thoughts on why investing in Superfast Broadband is so important to the long-term success of the UK economy. There’s no doubting that times are still challenging so businesses of all sizes need to remain competitive – both domestically and also internationally. Reliable, fast and cutting edge connectivity is central to achieving that: its importance – and the need to continually invest in it – can’t be underestimated.“

Christian James added: “We saw this event as our opportunity to convey that message to Westminster. It also allowed us the opportunity to raise several other issues that are directly affecting SMEs in what is still a difficult market.”

Kieran Charleson, director, BT Regions, commented:“IF was an early adopter of Superfast Broadband so it was great to have Brian and Christian at the event. The firm is a real ambassador for Superfast Broadband and it was great to hear their experiences of using it along with the commercial benefits it has brought to their organisation.”

The IF agency was one of 13 organisations invited by BT. It was an early adopter of Superfast Broadband and it was also one of the first SMEs in the country to hook up to BT’s “Infinity” service. Other attendees included companies operating in the leisure & tourism, technology and financial service sectors.
