North Tyneside health and safety manager celebrates national award
Health and Safety Manager at Elanders North Tyneside has been Highly Commended at a national awards ceremony, in the category of ‘Safe Workplace Champion’, judged by prominent manufacturing industry professionals and sponsored by Arco.
Samantha Day, from Prudhoe, Northumberland received the award at the Works Management Manufacturing Champions Awards, held at The Midland Hotel, Manchester on 4th December 2014.
She commented, “I was over the moon to be recognised for the work I love to do at Elanders”.
Health and Safety is a way of life more than a set of rules and I prefer to engage with people to make them interested, rather than dictate how we should work“.
The judges wanted to acknowledge Sam’s success and therefore created a Highly Commended award in this category. Their comments praised her innovative approach to the role, commenting:
“Samantha really thought outside the box with her ideas to engage the workforce and it is refreshing to see someone go beyond just health and safety to focus on the well-being message”.
Samantha has worked with Elanders for just over a year and within this short time she has successfully put in place many initiatives to help the team of over 170 at Elanders North Tyneside understand the value of health and safety.
