Retailers launch village loyalty card in Denmead to boost sales
A new village loyalty card launched in Denmead on is expected to boost sales among the seven businesses participating.
The Denmead Village Card is designed to reward residents for shopping in their local independent stores, with customers receiving a stamp on their card for every transaction over £5.
Once all eight stamps are collected, the customer is entered into a prize draw which takes place every month. Prizes range from meal vouchers to bottles of wine and flower bouquets.
The Denmead Village Card idea came about as a result of discussions taking place at one of the successful Denmead Business Forums, regularly attended by more than 40 Denmead businesses.
Voiceover artist, Steve O’Neill, was responsible for designing a logo for the card, while partner Lisa, who runs online retail business frenzyhouse.com, has built up a large and ever-expanding following on the Love Denmead Facebook page; the main platform for promoting the card and its benefits.
They said: “Since we moved to Denmead, we’ve really enjoyed being part of the vibrant local community and as such we’re happy to have been able to give something back by contributing in a small part to these events.
“Ultimately we’d hope, like everyone, that they bring success to Denmead village as a whole.”
Leader of Winchester City Council, Cllr Rob Humby, “This initiative is an excellent example of how businesses can join forces in encouraging local people to use their local shops and reward them for doing so.
“It is also a demonstration of how our Market Towns Development Initiative is driving economic development projects around the district. I’ve already collected 2 stamps on my card and am looking forward to gathering the rest.”
