Juliet loving her new career after Phones 4u
A FORMER Phones 4u employee is now looking forward to a merrier Christmas after securing a permanent post in a new career.
Juliet Powell barely had a chance to celebrate her new role with the mobile phone company as a Recruitment Administrator, when she found herself out of a job once more when the retailer stopped trading earlier this year.
“I’d been there just two-and-a-half weeks when that happened,” said Juliet, “but fortunately I’d kept in touch with Charlotte Walker at Brampton Recruitment and within 24 hours she found me my current job.”
Juliet now works as a Health and Safety Administrator at Kindertons Accident Management based in Crewe.
She added: “I met Charlotte when she voluntarily came in to Staffordshire University to give employability advice to myself and other students. I was studying for a BA in Business Management, as I was changing career from being a Veterinary Nurse.
“When Charlotte knew I was looking for work she asked me to come into their office and gave me loads of help with my CV and called me before and after my interview.
“I think people do need advice on their CV, especially if they’ve been employed a while as it isn’t something you know you need to do. I would have just sent out a generic CV and cover letter, but Charlotte explained it was important to tailor it to the business and to do your research on the company you’re applying for.”
Now working within a small and busy HR team, Juliet loves her new job and is currently studying for a further qualification in health and safety so she can progress to become a health and safety officer.
Charlotte Walker, Recruitment Team Leader at Brampton Recruitment based in Staffordshire, said: “When the closure was first announced at Phones 4u we received a high number of CV’s within a short period of time.
“But Juliet is proof that there are quality permanent jobs out there – even if you’re making a career change – but you do need to take time to do your research and work on your CV.”
