Reading's King's Meadow Baths £3 million spa given green light

Plan to restore a derelict Edwardian lido in Reading in a luxury spa and restaurant have been approved by councillors.

According to the BBC, King’s Meadow Baths, which has been closed for 40 years, will be redeveloped into a spa and restaurant complex.

Thames Lido Ltd is leading the £3 million project that was approved by Reading Borough Council members on Wednesday.

The firm, which restored Lido Bristol in 2008, was granted a 250-year lease by the council in July.

In 2009, community group King’s Meadow Campaign struggled to raise the £1.5 million needed to renovate the pool.
