Sheffield goes green with £2.5 million student accommodation development
Sheffield is set to receive a £2.5 million eco-friendly student accommodation development.
London-based Crossbow Investments has purchased 675 sq m on Henry Street in Sheffield for the development.
The scheme, comprising 47 units of cabin style accommodation, follows the developer’s acquisition of 1576m sq of land at Dunfields in Kelham Island for 18 individual plots which has been developed into student accommodation.
hlw Keeble Hawson, one of Yorkshire’s largest law firms, has acted for Crossbow Investments in both developments, acquiring the land for each of the sites and managing all processes for the off plan sales at Dunfields.
The design remit for both sites is being carried out by architects Coda Studios.
Crossbow Investments Ltd managing director, David Cross, said: “We commissioned Richard Smith and Amy Smith at hlw Keeble Hawson because of their expertise in handling such transactions.
“We’re extremely proud to contribute to the vibrant regeneration of brown field sites such as Kelham Island which reinforces how Sheffield has clearly identified the needs of modern living and puts the city at the cutting edge of urban development.
“Much has been achieved to date and there is a wealth of potential to build on the success.”
Richard Smith, partner at the Sheffield office of hlw Keeble Hawson, said: “Both schemes demonstrate Crossbow Investment’s formative role in the city’s vibrant regeneration programme.
“Both acquisitions will undoubtedly further enhance the dynamism and popularity of the Kelham district.”
hlw Keeble Hawson has witnessed a substantial increase in commercial and property deals across 2014. The firm’s clients include Harworth Estates which has just completed the R-evolution scheme offering units from 10,000- 50,000 sq ft on its flagship Advanced Manufacturing Park.
