Soho House project on former BBC Television Centre gets go ahead

Soho House’s planned redevelopment of the former BBC Television Centre in west London has been granted planning permission by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The revised plans will include a new club in the Soho House chain, along with 950 homes, office accommodation and a hotel.

In July 2012, the site was acquired for £200 million by Stanhope Plc, Mitsui Fudosan and the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo).

The BBC will return to Television Centre in 2017 to operate refurbished studios one to three through its commercial subsidiary BBC Studios and Post Production.

BBC Worldwide will move into a new home at Television Centre early in the New Year.

Hideto Yamada, managing director of Mitsui Fudosan UK, told the BBC: “This decision marks a significant milestone in the development of Television Centre and the exciting regeneration of White City.”
