£10.2 million Newcastle regeneration enters new phase

The first phase of a £10.2 million regeneration scheme in Newcastle is set to start before Christmas.

A development of 86 two to five-bedroom family homes will be built at Northbourne Street, running south from Elswick Road towards the River Tyne.

Previously, the site was a residential development which was demolished in 2005. The surrounding homes are predominately owned and managed by affordable housing provider Home Group.

The majority of terraced properties, totalling 71, will be made available for social rent, with the remainder released for shared ownership or private sale. Parking arrangements include on-street and in-curtilage bays.

The £10.2 million development is being delivered by Tynexe Ltd, a partnership between Newcastle City Council, Dysart Group and Gosforth-based Home Group which owns the land.

The regeneration scheme will create a range of housing options, from one bedroom apartments through to four bedroom family homes and retirement accommodation, with two and three-bedroom homes completed under phase one.
