56 new homes at Norris Green after transfer of 2.95 acres of land

Liverpool City Council has agreed the transfer of 2.95 acres of land to Regeneration Liverpool, the joint venture between regeneration specialist, Sigma Inpartnership and the city council.

The land will form Phase 5 of the Norris Green Village (NGV) development, on which the partnership plans to build a further 56 affordable rental homes.

Regeneration Liverpool’s affiliate partner, Countryside, will build 36 two-bedroom, 18 three-bedroom and two four-bedroom semi-detached affordable homes, which will ultimately be managed by Liverpool Mutual Homes.

The city council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and chair of Regeneration Liverpool, Councillor Ann O’Byrne, said: “This is another important step forward for the regeneration of Norris Green, and this next phase will provide affordable social housing for local people.

“We are committed to making Norris Green a great place to live and the improvement in housing is helping attract families back into the area.

“While there is still work to do, there is no doubt that huge progress has been made, and Phase 5 will take the number of properties delivered by the Regeneration Liverpool partnership to over 400.”

Director at Sigma Inpartnership, Graeme Hogg, said: “We have considered every aspect of the Norris Green scheme throughout each phase to ensure that at all times it remains a highly attractive and accessible neighbourhood for its residents.

“Not only will the additional homes contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the area but they will also continue to encourage investment in Liverpool, as well as sustaining existing jobs and creating opportunities for local people. We look forward to setting the wheels in motion on site on Phase 5 in January 2015.”
