Annual memberships are just £60 and include the first half hour of every journey free plus five hours of free cycle time for longer trips. Top-ups cost just £1 per hour.

With stations throughout the city centre and expanding out into Liverpool’s residential areas, it is not only a great way to get around but also a great way to explore the city like never before.

Tim Caswell, Managing Director of citybike operator Hourbike, said: “There is always one person we all struggle to buy for at Christmas.

“An annual citybike membership is ideal because most journeys around town take less than half an hour so they may never have to pay to use the cycles.

“It is a gift that offers health benefits, it can aid the daily commute and even make shopping around town easier. Plus we’ve seen citybike inspire people to explore the city in which they live and get to know it better.

“Through our twitter feed we hear about people taking citybikes off to corners of Liverpool they have never been to before. There are more than 100 stations in convenient and picturesque locations around the city which make finding new places even easier, whether you are a student here for the first time or you have lived in Liverpool all your life.”
