Manchester-based The Business Debt Advisor has successful year

Manchester-based business recovery company, The Business Debt Advisor (TBDA), has been appointed to deal with almost 40 corporate assignments in the last six months alone in a year that has seen the business advise on some large regional insolvencies.

TBDA’s most high-profile insolvency case was Sumners Media City Ltd, a TV post-production facility trading out of The Pie Factory at MediaCityUK in Salford.

At the end of July, all of the company’s eleven staff were made redundant.

The Business Debt Advisor was appointed to work with the directors and agents to achieve a sale of the boutique post-production facilities at The Pie Factory which raised over £20.5k for creditors.

Other notable appointments include the liquidation of Whitfield Working Men’s Club which was established in the 18th century and which had operated from a Victorian property in Glossop which is currently up for sale and is anticipated to provide a return to the members of the club.

Also included in this year’s corporate assignments were ten Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations and a number of advisory appointments where TBDA had sought to achieve informal settlements on behalf of entrepreneurs who found themselves facing personal recovery due to the failure of their businesses.

Managing director at The Business Debt Advisor, Bev Budsworth, explained: “It’s been another successful year and one that has seen us involved in some quite high profile business such as Sumners Media City Ltd and assisting an international group with ‘Project Space’ which saw the solvent liquidations of 20 dormant subsidiaries.”
