Football League delays Cellino’s disqualification as Leeds United owner until after his appeal
The Football League is set to delay Massimo Cellino’s disqualification as owner of Leeds United Football Club until after his appeal against the ban, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The Football League will allow Cellino to remain as a director of the Elland Road club while his appeal is being considered, despite initially telling him to resign before the end of December.
Cellino was disqualified from owning Leeds on December 1 due to a tax conviction imposed on him by a court in Cagliari earlier this year.
The governing body is yet to set a date for Cellino’s appeal but the hearing is likely to take place during the middle of next month.
Due to the delay in banning Cellino, he will remain in control of the club throughout the January transfer window.
The delay is also likely to see his disqualification extended by a short period of time if the League’s attempt to ban him is upheld.
