Oswaldtwistle industrial estate for sale at £1.95 million
A Lancashire industrial estate that was to be turned into housing has been listed for sale.
The news comes after plans to change the site into a neighbourhood were rejected by the council.
The 27-acre Brookside Industrial Estate, in Oswaldtwistle is for sale at £1.95 million.
The site formerly housed Joseph Metcalf, which closed in 2008, the site was then bought by Lincoln-based William Sinclair Holdings.
Oswaldtwistle councillor Peter Britcliffe, said: “I’m disappointed the council threw out the plans because they were exciting and would have revitalised that area of Oswaldtwistle.
“Let’s hope now the land is up for sale it will attract a developer who can do something
“It’s nonsense that the council said the land should be kept for business use because there are plenty of industrial parks.
“It’s astounding that the council should do that and not bring more people into the town,” according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
