Wates Living Space picks up two Nottingham contracts
Wates Living Space is continuing its work in Nottingham after winning two refurbishment contracts worth a total of £5.2m.
The affordable housing contractor has been appointed to deliver a £3.2m external refurbishment programme for Nottingham City Homes and a £2m contract to install external wall insulation for over 500 flats and houses on behalf of Gedling Homes.
The refurbishment contract for Nottingham City Homes will see three 15-storey residential blocks in Sneinton receive external wall insulation, new A-rated windows and doors, new enclosed external balconies, roofing and a new plant and power room.
The tower blocks will also be connected to the Nottingham City District Heating network, which provides energy efficient heating to domestic and commercial customers across the city. The work is due to complete in winter 2015 and the blocks will remain fully occupied throughout the duration of the project.
330 houses and 178 flats will receive external wall insulation under a contract with Gedling Homes. As part of the works, Wates Living Space will also enhance the external appearance of the block of flats at Walton Court.
Joanne Jamieson, Regional Managing Director for Wates Living Space, commented: “Wates has a long-standing presence in Nottingham and we are pleased to further cement this with these two new contract wins.
“Our team has a wealth of experience in delivering high quality refurbishment projects and we are looking forward to using these skills to improve the homes of residents in Nottingham.”
Nick Murphy, Chief Executive of Nottingham City Homes, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Wates Living Space on the refurbishment of Bentinck, Manvers and Kingston courts. The work will benefit the local economy by providing local jobs as well as making sure the blocks are more energy efficient and warmer for our tenants.”
Lynn Clayton, Managing Director of Gedling Homes, commented: “We are very pleased to be working with Wates Living Space to deliver this programme. The programme will transform the appearance of our solid walled properties in the Netherfield and Carlton areas of Nottingham. In addition, it will result in significant improvements to the thermal performance of these homes, helping to reduce fuel bills and contribute to our goal of addressing fuel poverty among our tenants”
