A five-strong team of legal experts from hlw Keeble Hawson are among the speakers at Sheffield Hallam University’s 9th Student Sport Conference.

Organised by Sheffield Hallam’s Academy of Sport and Physical Activity, the two-day event, which runs across January 15-16, aims to equip sports students with the knowledge, awareness, understanding and skills of the evolving professional working environment they are preparing to join.

The hlw Keeble Hawson team, comprising partner and head of sports law Giles Searby, partners Michael Peacock and Barry Warne, associate Deborah Niven and trainee solicitor Ryan Adams, will host a panel workshop discussing wide-ranging legal issues facing sports professionals during their careers.

Giles Searby said: “As hlw Keeble Hawson further expands its reach within sports law, we look forward to sharing our expertise and giving the students a valuable insight into key aspects of legislation, including contracts, employment and brand protection.”

This year’s conference is the biggest yet, with 800 students, 100 workshops and many special guests who are leaders in their fields, giving insight and inspiration to students from across the University’s Academy of Sport and Physical Activity.

The ongoing support of our partners is testament to their commitment to the sports industry of the future.”
