£1.3 million revamp of New Brighton near completion
A £1.3 million revamp of the New Brighton seafront is near completion.
The project, which was taken on in a bid to attract further investment in the area, has seen improvement works being carried out along the Marine Promenade.
The council is hoping to bring greater footfall to the shops and businesses in the area.
This week the final phase of the project started and work is due to be completed within two weeks time.
The work is being done by contractors D Morgan Plc and is funded from the council’s capital programme for regeneration activities.
Wirral’s cabinet member for highways and transport, Cllr Stuart Whittingham said: “The scheme will facilitate two-way traffic flow around the existing Town Square ‘plinth,’ and have a positive impact on businesses in Victoria Road with increased traffic and footfall.
“We would like to thank businesses, residents and visitors for bearing with us while this work takes place.
“There is some work still to do, but, depending on weather and conditions this should only take around a fortnight,” according to the Liverpool Echo.
