Relish Publications launch South East book

Relish Publications, the UK’s leading fine dining guide and recipe book publisher will be launching their latest offering ‘Relish South East’ at Ockendon Manor Hotel and Spa on 26th January 2015, featuring 20+ of the best restaurants from the region. The afternoon launch is a celebration of all the restaurants, with executive teams, and owners of the South East’s leading restaurants in attendance.

Celebrated chef, Angela Hartnett, wrote the foreword for the latest edition and commented: ’The South East of England is home to some incredible produce, from wild mushrooms to garlic, venison, beef and lamb, and Luke and I celebrate all these ingredients in our menus at Hartnett Holder & Co. The producers who farm and rear this produce are an important part of the local community and supporting them helps the community to prosper. I was brought up in Kent with a passion for good, honest food instilled in me by my Italian grandmother and mother. Meals were homely but always made from the best seasonal ingredients we could afford and these experiences have formed my approach as a chef today.’

The approach of Angela and her team is reflected across the region, and the signature dishes of many of the restaurants focus on local produce and a genuine passion for honest, refined and great tasting food. This book features many of these leading restaurants across the region including; Boulters Restaurant and Bar, Humphrey’s, Hartnett, Holder and Co, The Terrace at The Montagu Arms Hotel, The White Horse Hotel and Brasserie, Amberley Castle, The Chequers Inn, Deans Place Hotel, The Earl of March, Matt Gillan at the Pass, Ockendon Manor Hotel and Spa, The Restaurant at Drakes, Terre a Terre, The Abinger Hatch, The French Table, The Minnis Bar and Restaurant, Read’s Restaurant with Rooms, The Swan, Thackeray’s Restaurant, and finally Food and Wine Pairing by Bluebell Vineyard.

Commenting on the launch of the new book, Duncan Peters from Relish Publications said: ‘The latest Relish Fine Dining Guide and Recipe book is undoubtedly one of the most impressive books we have produced, due to the plethora of outstanding restaurants in the region. We altered the format from other books in the series giving each sub region its own forward, and a Michelin starred head chef from each area, introducing the best of the local culinary scene. We have met some of the best names in the industry over the last 5 years, producing the series of books, and we always knew the South East would be a treasure trove of great restaurants, which is why we waited until we had a great reputation for publishing, before we targeted the region. The high standard of all the restaurants and the really talented chefs that operate across the South East makes the area a food lovers’ dream.’
