QualitySolicitors Talbots targets property sector growth
A leading independent law firm is targeting growth in the residential and commercial property market after appointing two of the sector’s most promising solicitors.
QualitySolicitors Talbots, which hit a record £7.5m turnover in 2014, has made it a ‘family affair’ after signing up sister-in-laws Jagdeep Kitaure-Kandola and Lucky Mahal to boost a division of the business that experienced 15% growth in transactions in the last twelve months.
The duo have a combined 20 years’ experience working across the West Midlands property scene and have been involved in a number of significant deals, including a recent £1.3m residential purchase and instructing numerous lenders on strategic property deals.
They will now form part of a 15-strong team responsible for working with residential buyers and sellers, small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs), landlords and a number of multi-national firms with interests throughout the UK.
Martyn Morgan, Director at QualitySolicitors Talbots, commented: “There is definitely a feeling of cautious optimism in both commercial and residential property with a slowly recovering economy triggering movement across both markets.
“Last year was very good for us and our ability to offer personal service and innovative solutions to client requirements saw us grow considerably and we needed to strengthen the team with dynamic, new young talent.”
He continued: “Lucky and Jagdeep are well respected solicitors, share a passion for the Black Country and the West Midlands and have worked for firms that have also been part of the QualitySolicitors brand. They will bring a fresh approach to our company and have proven in their previous roles that they can deliver positive results for clients both large and small.
“With the pipeline of work we can see going into 2015, not to mention the expected increase in market activity, I’d expect our property division to grow by over £1.5m this year.”
Lucky will be responsible for increasing QualitySolicitors Talbots presence in residential property and has been brought in after impressing bosses with her negotiating skills and expertise in providing successful outcomes on a host of conveyancing scenarios.
She also boasts significant experience in dealing with landlord/tenant agreements and in the acquisition and sale of residential properties both privately and through auctions.
“This is a very exciting move for me. I like the way QualitySolicitors Talbots do business, using their independence as a strength in the level of personal service they deliver and the creative way they market the brand,” explained Lucky, who is CQS accredited.
“In addition to my traditional role, I also enjoy business development so will be looking to attend networking events across the region in a bid to increase our client portfolio.”
Jagdeep’s focus will be on the commercial property sector, working on a varied caseload that ranges from owner managed businesses and SMEs to landlords with multiple properties and PLCs.
Her reputation has been built on resolving complex legal issues and managing the requirements of high-net-worth individuals.
She concluded: “The economy has started to improve, with businesses making profits again and banks now having the confidence to lend again.
“This means more companies are looking to purchase the freehold premises rather than renting and this is something I’m already working on with a number of local businesses.”
QualitySolicitors Talbots, which has been located in the West Midlands since 1828, has seven offices in Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Stourport and Wolverhampton.
In addition to the property team, the firm also offers high quality employment, family and personal legal advice and access to a growing business services team that covers corporate transactions, dispute and licensing law.
