Omega Warrington secures £23 million global manufacturing deal
Omega Warrington Ltd (OWL), has secured a £23 million forward funding agreement following approval of planning application in November last year.
The as yet unnamed company will occupy an agreed 240,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility and will be a major boost for British industry and the local economy.
OWL is a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties Ltd, in partnership with landowner the Homes and Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Borough Council and the Cheshire and Warrington LEP
Work on the new accommodation is now underway, with completion due this summer.
GVA and JLL are the letting agents for logistics and manufacturing opportunities.
Joint MD for Miller Developments, partner of OWL, Andrew Sutherland said: “Having secured the North West’s biggest logistics deal in 2014, we are delighted to continue the momentum at the start of this year with a deal that heralds extremely positive news for local employment and the country’s manufacturing sector.
“Added to the recent deal with The Hut Group, this latest signing reflects the strength of Omega’s offer to the manufacturing and logistics industries, with access to a huge labour pool and manufacturing expertise within a 30-minute drive time from the site.
“The benchmark has been set for 2015, as we bring forward these developments and hopefully see more pipeline deals come into fruition.”
Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Cllr Terry O’Neill, said: “I am delighted that yet another occupier has chosen to set up at Omega and Warrington.
“I am especially pleased that this will create hundreds of new manufacturing jobs and also that this represents business investment from an overseas company.
“Warrington was once again ranked as a top ‘city’ for growth in the recent Centre for Cities report and this announcement is a further endorsement of those findings.”
