Planning permission secured for £7 million project in Liverpool creating 100 jobs
Planning permission has been secured for the £7 million Queens Drive project in Liverpool which will create 100 jobs.
The project will bring new M&S Simply Food and Aldi stores, together with new, headquarters for Merseyside Society for Deaf People (MSDP).
Both M&S and Aldi have committed to working with local councillors and Mayor Joe Anderson to target recruitment locally.
Liverpool City Council’s Planning Committee this morning resolved to grant planning permission for a ‘transformative’ scheme.
The planning application was submitted by Lincoln-based developer Simons Group.
In addition, Simons Group has committed to inviting local sub-contractors to tender for work on the development.
The proposals will see the demolition of MSDP’s offices, with a new building constructed for it at the front of the site.
Chief executive of MSDP, Jackie McCreanney said: “We are delighted with the council’s approval for our plans.
“We are confident that the scheme will be of significant benefit locally, starting with new jobs for the residents of Stoneycroft, Tuesbrook and West Derby.
“The retail units proposed will enhance consumer choice and competition in the area’s food retail sector, with the provision of two additional neighbourhood foodstores operated by very distinctive and popular national brands .
“Being able to help provide new facilities for MSDP will only further increase what the area has to offer and our proposals were very well received by local people during an extensive public consultation.”
