Monkseaton student secures maintenance apprenticeship at Cramlington employer
Tyne North Training has once again secured record numbers of apprentice starts in 2014. It has been a particularly successful year for companies, but also for apprentices who live within the Northumberland region.
Lewis Kirkpatrick applied to TNT just as he was beginning to prepare for his AS Level examinations in Spring 2014. Once Lewis had completed his application process with TNT which includes testing in English and Maths, an engineering reasoning test and an interview, Lewis was able to focus on his studies with the confidence that TNT were actively seeking an engineering apprenticeship for him.
During this period, Renolit, one of Cramlington’s premier manufacturers had approached TNT with a view to recruiting an additional two maintenance apprentices. Lewis’ details were submitted, he was subsequently interviewed and the result was that he was invited back to the factory to do a work trial. Such was Lewis’ attitude and performance on his trial that Renolit were delighted to offer him an apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance.
Chris Milne commented “Lewis is now one of 6 TNT apprentices who are now forming part of Renolit’s planning for the future. Renolit are determined to embrace the apprenticeship model as a method of retaining skills within the organisation. I am looking forward to working with Lewis for the next 4 years.”
