Housebuilder to host event for first time buyers
On Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February, local housebuilder Barratt Homes will be hosting an exclusive event across its developments in West and South Yorkshire for first time buyers. The events are running in association with the Help to Buy agent for Yorkshire, to offer advice to those looking to get on the property ladder, following news from the Halifax that the number of first time buyers in 2014 rose to its highest level in seven years.
The events will not only offer key advice from experts to help prospective buyers understand how to buy their first home, but will also give those reserving the opportunity to take advantage of an exclusive first time buyers’ pack – offering free carpets, appliances, stamp duty paid and £500 towards legal fees for this weekend only.
A representative from the government’s local Help to Buy agent will be available to help visitors understand how the Help to Buy scheme works and how to qualify and start the process. Furthermore, independent financial advice will also be on offer, so visitors can learn more about how much they can borrow and reserve their first home this weekend.
A recent report from the Halifax estimated that 326,500 people bought their first house or flat in 2014, a rise of 22% compared to 2013, with Help to Buy being hailed as one of the main reasons for this increase.
The event will be taking place across all Barratt developments in West and South Yorkshire from 10.30am on both 31st January and 1st February.
Sales advisers from Barratt Homes will also be on hand to speak to prospective buyers about the process of buying a new home, with the aim of making their experience of buying a first home stress-free and easy, by guiding them every step of the way.
Sophie Gilligan, Assistant Manager at Help to Buy NEYH, commented: “The event is fantastic for people looking to find out a little more about the scheme. The scheme has proved to be a tremendous success across the region as well as nationwide, with over 30,000 people taking advantage of the equity loan since it’s launch in April 2013.”
Sam Wood, Sales Director at Barratt Homes, commented: “Since the launch of Help to Buy, we’ve helped hundreds of people move into new homes by utilising the scheme, but we often find that people are unsure whether they qualify to use the scheme and how to utilise it, so this event is all about bringing together experts from across Yorkshire to offer advice to prospective buyers.
“Visitors will also be able to speak with our sales advisers to find out more about the homes available and the local area, and view a variety of showhomes to help them find their dream home. We would urge people across Yorkshire to take advantage of the fantastic deals available for this weekend only and the advice from the Help to Buy experts and independent advisers.”
