Cold Snap sees work heat up for Martin-Brooks
The phones are ringing red hot at Sheffield roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, as the firm helps local homeowners battle the winter blues.
Enquiries from domestic customers have risen by 63% in January, compared to the same month in the last four years, after high winds and snow wreaked havoc on the region’s roofs.
Martin-Brooks estimator, Andrew Wheadon, said: “Most of the calls we have received since Christmas concern small repairs, but there have been plenty of them! Our roofing teams have traversed the county fixing ridge tiles blown off in high winds, slipped slates and gutters brought down under the weight of snow. The fall we endured on Boxing Day was particularly destructive and the weather continues to keep us busy.”
January’s flurry of activity reflects a general increase in new business for Martin-Brooks. Last year, the firm recorded a 56% growth in enquiries from domestic clients, against an average taken from the previous four years. Overall expansion was boosted further by a number of high profile renovation projects on heritage properties, including Rotherham’s Sandbeck Park, the Magnus Building in Newark and Lincoln Castle.
Andrew added: “We are really pleased to be making such a promising start to the year and although the inclement weather has given us a helping hand, we remain positive that this momentum can be sustained. There is renewed confidence among homeowners looking at improving or refurbishing their property and they appreciate our quick response times and attention to detail, no matter how small the job.”
More than half of all new enquiries received by Martin-Brooks come from recommendations or repeat business. The firm handles new roofs, repairs and reroofs of all sizes and is listed on the National Federation of Roofing Contractors’ (NFRC) heritage register.
