Whitley Bay student starts apprenticeship at Automotive manufacturer

Ford Components, one of the region’s most established automotive component manufacturers, has recruited a third apprentice from Tyne North Training. Ford Components are one of many automotive companies who are now recruiting engineering apprentices to work in a variety of disciplines including maintenance, tool making, quality, design and project engineering.

Last year, Ford Components recruited a TNT apprentice tool maker to support the tool room in the North Shields factory. So impressed by the quality of the candidate and Tyne North Training, Ford decided to recruit an additional maintenance apprentice in 2014.

After a number of factory visits by Tyne North Training and several discussions with the Ford management team, Chris Milne, TNT’s maintenance Training Officer was asked to recruit a young apprentice.

Adam Cass, who was studying for his GCSEs this year at Whitley Bay High School, applied to TNT in April giving himself ample time to complete our entry tests, revise for his exams and attend interviews. By mid June he had completed his exams and secured his engineering apprenticeship at Ford Components.

Chris Milne commented “Adam approached TNT at just the right time. Any aspiring apprentice really needs to give themselves enough time to apply to us, go through our testing then concentrate on preparing for their GCSEs. Adam did this and now he is on his way to becoming a first class engineer at Ford Components.”
