Carlisle City Council to make £1.2 million budget cuts
Carlisle City Council reports it needs to make £1.2 million of budget cuts in 2015/16 and have so far cut £663k from its budget.
The council report that further savings in future years are likely to be £1.6 million for 2016/17; £395k for 2017/18 and £1.4 million for 2018/19.
The cuts are due to a 40% reduction in money received from central government, reductions in investment income and general income shortfalls.
The council report that it is committed to protecting front-line services, such as waste and street cleaning, as well as services to its most vulnerable residents.
It said it had some “tough decisions about our services and future spending” to make.
